The JEMS 2020 conference schedule was built for a fully virtual format, spanning the first full week of December 2020. Because the meeting took place online rather than in a single lecture hall, the published timetable organised everything around symposia sessions, poster sessions and short flash presentations, with all session hours expressed in Central European Time so that participants joining from different countries could follow along without confusion.
Rather than presenting one long undifferentiated programme, the schedule page divides the meeting into separate sections, each of which can be opened to reveal a detailed timetable of talks, posters and flash contributions. This structure helped attendees move between parallel streams and find the parts of the scientific programme most relevant to their own work, while keeping the overall density of the page moderate and easy to scan.
A programme overview sits at the core of the schedule, summarising the scientific content of the meeting and framing how the individual symposia fit together as a coherent whole. The conference brought together magnetism researchers from across Europe through the Joint European Magnetic Symposia, and the organised sequence of invited and contributed talks reflects that joint, multi-symposium character.
Because the meeting moved online in response to pandemic conditions, the organisers emphasised communication, interaction and the smooth exchange of ideas between participants. Sessions were designed to encourage discussion despite the absence of an on-site venue, with posters and flash presentations offering additional routes for presenting results and contacting colleagues. The schedule was noted as being subject to updates, reflecting the practical realities of assembling a virtual conference at short notice.
